Hi, my name is Nathan Leatherman.

For as far back as I can remember I have always been horse crazy.  I do not come from a horse background. I can proudly say that I am self-taught. I have never had lessons or worked under any trainers. I have taught myself to ride mostly off feel in the early stages of growing up and still do. I started my first horse when I was around 13 years old. It has been one hell of a journey ever since.

I had no one to teach me the right way. So, through the ups and the downs, the good and the bad, I would not change a thing because it has made me into the horseman I am today.

Back in 2012 I had a horse accident that changed my life forever. I knew that if I ever wanted to ride a horse again, I needed help. I did not have the skill or knowledge to be riding that horse. I do not blame the horse; I take full responsibility for that situation because I was not prepared. As I was heeling up, I started surfing the web and came across a few well known trainers, which truly changed my life and horsemanship for the better.

I believe that the start and foundation is the most important step for all horses. Through feel, time and experience I can say that I am ready to help others with their horse journey. The relationship between human and horse is 50/50. Horses need a foundation, and people need a foundation. If more people thought this way, they would enjoy their horses a lot more.

Since I have changed my old ways and gained lots of experience, I have not been hurt since my accident.

If you want a good horse, there are three ways to get it: Buy it already trained, have someone train it for you, or train it yourself. But you still have to know what you are doing to maintain the horse.

All horses need good leaders. If you are a good leader, you will have good horses.

I am not trying to be the best in the world, just the best that I can be. To me, my way is the way, because it has kept me safe with good results. But to you, it may be a way. If you get serious, your horse will get serious. I look forward to helping lots of people and horses.

Ultimately, all I can do is share my experiences and what works for me. What keeps me and the horses I work with safe.
