I wanted to tell you why the reason I tracked him down and bought him. I spent months hunting for a horse like him. He is delightful and amazing to ride bride less.
A close friend and trainer of mine got me started on something new: Western reining in 2015. I trained for 2 full years and reached non pro level and decided to buy my own horse the end of December 2017. The only problem: the entire group of reining clubs in New and England imploded and shows folded, Covid in 2020 finished off national shows: I keep my reining horses in Training and worked him 5 days out of 7. On April 5, at 11:20 I was working a different reining horse that wouldn’t settled in his programs. After circling and doing a full slide to a halt then doing 180 to do a roll back. A huge explosion occurred inside (turned out to be an interior truss had split. (Slamming the indoor roof.) In an instant, the horse went up and over with me still on board: instead of rolling his back; he arched his back aware I was still there and basically saved my life.
I did come away with 5 broken ribs, broke the pelvic rings from being-slammed by the saddle I was still in, by his weight. I had s Micro-fractured L2,3,4. And slammed the spinal cord. Doctors told me 9 months to recover and no more competition riding. I healed completely in 6 months and got the go ahead to find the right horse.
It took a year and I found Max. In reality I was very aware I could have been paralyzed or killed while in the ER. In searching, I needed shorter, and desensitized to so many things. I found a few way way way out of my price range. If it wasn’t for my very supportive husband, I would have never been able to bid on him much less buy him. I HAD a budget that I hadn’t plan on. I am so pleased with him.
